CONTACT Andrew Nuss
Agent at Great Southern Land
Andrew Nuss’ love of the outdoors and commitment to conservation can be traced back to his strong Southern roots. He comes from a family that lived throughout the Southeast enjoying time in the outdoors every chance they could get. It is only natural that Andrew would obtain a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biologies, has since been published for his wildlife environmental work, is a U.S. Dept of Agricultural National Service winner and is also an active member of the Alabama Wildlife Federation, Alabama Rivers Alliance, and the Nature Conservancy.
Andrew has worked in a multitude of land industry facets making him a leader amongst his peers. His personal accomplishments include working back country rescue in remote areas of the Appalachian Trail as a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, as well as his recognized efforts by the U.S. Forest Service for rehabilitating and constructing trails in the Stanislaus National Forest and the Shasta Trinity National Forest. He has worked as a consultant assisting landowners and business owners performing biological assessments and wetland delineations for future business transactions and developments. His work with agencies such as the Forest Service and Fish & Wildlife Service on behalf of his clients ensured appropriate regulations and compliance standards were met. His passion for representing landowners led him to work as a property specialist where he was able to successfully navigate lease agreements to ensure that landowners received fair terms and the highest value for their properties.
Andrew’s strong work ethic and passion for conservation started at an early age. While still in school, Andrew worked with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency where he helped re-introduce a rare freshwater species into the Powell River system. He was able to integrate GIS technology and substrate mapping into their strategy. The project’s success gained national attention through scientific journal publication.
Andrew married Ramsey (Pursell) from Sylacauga, Alabama in 2014. They enjoy spending time exploring the outdoors with their “three” children: William (3), Oliver (1), and Sully (3-month-old Chocolate Lab). Andrew is an avid backpacker, fly fisherman, and hiker; having hiked large sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail. As an environmental educator, he has volunteered countless hours teaching both adults and children ethical land use and sound conservation practices. He holds certifications from the Army Corps of Engineers for his training in wetland delineations. “I have a great passion for land and the outdoors, I believe it’s vital, especially for our children and future generations to understand and have an appreciation for our natural world,” says Nuss.
Andrew was recruited to Great Southern Land as a land agent and specialist in the North Alabama territory for his extensive background in the industry, his passion for wildlife conservation, his expertise in working with landowners, and his outstanding environmental achievements. Fletcher Majors, JD, ALC – President of Great Southern Land- said of Nuss, “We are very excited to add Andrew to our team. His background in land use and conservation will be a great help for those clients that Great Southern Land serves: land buyers, land sellers and landowners. Andrew’s knowledge adds another set of tools to the extensive knowledge that our agents collectively have, to serve our clients. And on a personal level I was very impressed with the enthusiasm Andrew showed about getting into the land sales and consulting business. If my instincts are any good, Andrew is going to be a land real estate star.
