Through the years, I have bought and sold a lot of land. Dating back to my first purchase in 1996, Eric Leisy with Great Southern Land was influential in connecting us to the right people in the purchase of our first tract. Since then, he seems to have had his hand in almost all transactions whether buying or selling land for our family. What’s funny about this is he just started selling real estate full time only 6 or 7 years ago. My point is, when Eric sees a need to help someone, he goes above and beyond the call of duty to help people that seek his advice. Eric’s last 3 transactions for us, whether it was timing, price or location, seemed inevitable not to go down. Somehow, with hard work and persistence, “Big E” as we call him, got the deal done. I recently had the privilege of working with Eric Leisy in an effort to market and eventually sell my recreational property. I had attempted to accomplish this on three other occasions with limited results. The previous firms and personnel that I used all came from reputable agencies yet their approaches were very similar. When I engaged Eric, it became obvious in our first meeting that working with him was going to be different. His creative approach to marketing the property was obvious at the onset. Before he proposed anything, he spent considerable effort understanding the previous attempts so that he would not replicate activities that yielded marginal results. One of the many things that impressed me regarding Eric was his insight to the emotional aspects of buying or selling a recreational property. He realized that buyers are buying a dream and sellers are often selling a dream realized and the foundation for untold numbers of memories. Eric realized that this was not a simple commodity. The way that Eric dealt with me and my family in concert with the way he dealt with prospective buyers clearly reflected his understanding of the complexities of this probable transaction. I would be remiss in not mentioning Eric’s character over and above his obvious professionalism. During the negotiations, the potential buyer proposed a method that would result in a serious reduction in Eric’s fee. I was unwilling to allow this and wanted to withdraw.
